Privacy policy

VinoCache is an offline-first wine cellar app. This policy describes what the app can access and what leaves the device.

Data on your phone

VinoCache stores cellar records (producer, wine, vintage, purchase notes, ratings, bin, photos of labels you attach) in a local SQLite database and app photo folder. That data stays on the device unless you export it or turn on optional Google Drive sync. An optional app PIN is stored only on that phone (hashed) and is not included in backups or Drive sync.

Permissions

• Camera — photograph wine labels and scan barcodes. On-device OCR reads text from those photos. Images are not sent to VinoCache servers (there are none).
• Photos — attach a label picture from your library.
• Location (optional) — only if you tap “Use current location” to fill cellar address fields. Location is stored with that cellar on the device.
• Internet — optional Google sign-in / Drive backup, and opening Vivino, Wine-Searcher, Liv-ex, or Google in the browser.

Optional Google Drive

If you sign in with Google, VinoCache requests Drive access only for files it creates, plus read-only Drive to open a pack you paste. The backup JSON can include bottle photos as base64. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that account.

What we do not do

VinoCache does not run ads, sell cellar data, or require an account. There is no VinoCache backend. Crash reporting, if added later, will be opt-in.

If you buy VinoCache Pro on Google Play, Google Play Billing processes the payment. VinoCache does not receive your card details.

LWIN catalog

VinoCache does not bundle the Liv-ex LWIN database. If you download it from Liv-ex and import it, that file stays on your phone and remains subject to Liv-ex’s Creative Commons terms. VinoCache does not claim ownership of LWIN. Credit: LWIN © Liv-ex Ltd.
