Request deletion of your VinoCache data

Last updated: 22 August 2026

This page is for the VinoCache Android app (Google Play package com.vinocache.cellar). VinoCache does not create an account and has no cellar server. We do not hold a copy of your bottles. Deletion is done on your phone, on files you saved, and in your Google Drive if you turned on sync.

Steps

  1. On your phone. Uninstall VinoCache, or Android Settings → Apps → VinoCache → Storage → Clear data. That deletes the on-device cellar, label photos, optional location you saved on a cellar, and the optional PIN hash. It is immediate. There is no VinoCache retention period.
  2. Google Drive (only if you used Sync). Open Drive, search for vinocache-backup.json (older household files may be named caveau-backup.json), and delete those files. Empty Drive trash. After that, Google’s own retention policy applies to deleted Drive items — not VinoCache’s.
  3. Backups you exported. If you used Save cellar backup, delete that JSON from Downloads or wherever you stored it.
  4. Ask us to confirm. Email contact@myvinocache.com with the subject “Delete my VinoCache data.” We will confirm we have nothing on our side to erase. We cannot reach your phone or your Drive from here.

What is deleted

  • Cellar records (producer, wine, vintage, notes, ratings, bins, watchlist)
  • Label photos you attached
  • Optional cellar address / GPS if you used “Use current location”
  • Optional Google sign-in tokens stored in VinoCache (after uninstall / clear data)
  • Optional PIN hash on that phone
  • Drive and file backups, after you delete those files yourself

What we do not hold — and what we cannot delete

  • VinoCache keeps nothing. There is no VinoCache cloud account and no extra retention window on our side.
  • Google Play purchases. If you bought VinoCache Pro, Play keeps the transaction. That is Google’s record, not a cellar copy. Manage or request it through Google Play / your Google account.
  • Your Google account. Signing out of Drive in VinoCache, or uninstalling, does not delete your Gmail or Drive. Only you (or Google) can do that.
